Space in my Apartment

This is the first song of my Debut EP, Stars, Scenery, and Us! These would have been some of the first successful songs that I ever wrote, and I'm always fascinated to go back and listen to these songs side-by-side with some of my more current work. It helps me to see how far I've come, how my style has changed, and how its stayed the same. Stars, Scenery, and Us, is a very daydream-y group of songs, and Space in my apartment is a huge example of that. It centers the imaginative thought process of a person who had just moved into college, and who had 'way too much space' compared to hwat they had before. and yes, that is also a play on words. I love puns. Quickly from that point on in the song we get taken for a ride with the focus of the character's daydream, a man in a spaceship, adventuring all on his own. I've always thought about how that spaceman is kind of representative of the main character/narrator; they're in some unfamiliar place, searching for adventure, and maybe also looking for some friends to come along for the ride.

All Night Long (Waiting for you)

We're really checking off all the boxes here, huh. It's only four songs into my Debut EP and we've already got a heartbreak song, AND an 'I'm here for you' song. Kinda funny how that happens hahahah. Anyways, Walking Away is a pretty contemplative, somewhat sadder song that depicts a story of a loved one leaving, after they promised that they wouldn't. It's very tender. The emotions and symbolism of events of the story are reflected in the scenery painted by the text being sung, as well as the story that it tells.

Heart of Stars

This song, too, is pretty daydream-focused. It very much leans into the concepts of space, stars, existence, time, the imagery of light and shadow, and finally, the beauty of patterns and parallels between things that we believe are vastly different, but may be not be. Many things that we distance ourselves from are actually much closer to our hearts and souls than we may want to believe, at first. All of these ideas and concepts have continued to be HUGE sources of inspiration to me in my art and my music even to this day. Also, a fun little fact - 'Heart of Stars' and 'Space in my apartment' are notably the first songs that I ever used a mixture of electric and acoustic instruments in; which is cool because that has now become such a staple of my personal style of songwriting.

Walking Away

I think this was actually the very first song that I recorded officially. It features guitar and voice at its core, and depicts the feeling of wanting to be there for someone you love, and being ready and waiting for them in case they ever do need, or want, that. (what a classic, right? lol. Great subject for a first song-) Anyways, this is a song of reassurance, written in a very light, positive, and wholesome tone. I will be releasing another song with similar messages in the near future, but with a much darker tone/choice of theming running through it. 'Graveyard Friends' will be part of my upcoming album 'The Ghost' and will premiere soon to help that project gain traction. oh I also played the violin parts for 'All Night Long'. I should probably mention that somewhere. I am a college violin performance major full-time, though writing music is what I want to do for a living after all is said and done. We'll see where life takes us :33333
