Soulful was one of the first pieces that I wrote for solo guitar. It was initially titled 'Soulful Night' and was intended to be part of a song cycle/song series that went through the times of the day and the emotions that I associate with those times (through mostly instrumental expression.) This particular piece felt so raw and full of spirit that I wanted to share it even before the others, and ended up changing the title to be just 'Soulful.' I may still return to my older files and release the older song cycle based around the shifting of time with a couple other pieces that I'm writing now. An interesting note - I did use a number of these songs in a poetry/song cycle I made in a lovely little voice acting studio called 'Sub Rosa Studios' a while back, which I help run.
